The last Venetians 2013
La Serenissima, the city of rulers, explorers, commercial travelers, painters and novelists, fascinates us to this day. But beauty can be a curse. While the number of visitors to Venice is constantly increasing, the number of inhabitants is falling dramatically. Photographer KaJo has set off with Venetian Luana Castelli on an expedition to the last Venetians. Together with the author, KaJo succeeds in taking his camera behind the facades of museum-like Venice and delving deep into the everyday lives and concerns of the Venetians: into hidden art workshops or vegetable gardens concealed behind high walls, into sacristies, fire stations, gondola shipyards or the palaces of the Nobili. The illustrated book was published by terra magica in 2014.
