14 million inhabitants, unmanageable, yet perfectly organized. A megacity of contrasts, futuristic architecture right next to traditional two-storey wooden houses. And it's hard to believe: Tokyo is a cycling city, inside the Yamanote railroad ring with its mega centers such as Shinjuku, Shibuya or Ueno, Tokyo almost looks like a village, with small alleyways and ideal for exploring by bike. At Shinjuku station alone, over 3 million people crowd onto platforms every day. KaJo, who had worked in an architecture firm in Tokyo during his trip around the world in 1982, was fascinated by this juggernaut from then on and we visited Tokyo again and again.
