No publisher found, so... homemade. Karl's first book.
Pictures of a world trip (1981-84) COLOR
After studying architecture and working as an architect for five years, the then 33-year-old Karl ('Now or never!') set off on a trip around the world with his camera and rucksack - a three-year traveling and working adventure. In addition to traveling, he worked in India, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand in the profession he had learned. Even more than spectacular or unknown landscapes, he was interested in meeting people from other cultures that were foreign to him. Curious, he sought to get close to the inhabitants of the countries he visited. With patience, the amateur photographer even managed to overcome their natural shyness in front of the intruder's camera. The short periods of work as a "journeyman" also allowed him to slip at least one foot out of the skin of the tourist, the intruder. During his trip around the world, Karl photographed with the most compact SLR at the time, an Olympus OM2. The New Zealand architect Athfield encouraged him to take his first steps into architectural photography. Incidentally, he met Jackie on the island of Bali and back in Germany, the two of them founded the KaJo publishing house under the most difficult of starting conditions with "Bilder einer Weltreise".
