New Zealand 2000-2015
After our first New Zealand picture books in our own KaJo publishing house, further volumes followed, including for the New Zealand publisher CCP. We were always happy to return to the land of our antipodes for reports and book projects and enjoyed being able to escape the German winter there. We even looked for a small wooden house. But since a house also ties you down, in 2008 we decided to buy an old four-wheel drive camper (Bimobil cabin on a Toyota Hilux), which we parked in a warehouse near Christchurch to move it around the country for three months, usually between January and April. Since 2003, all the pictures have been taken digitally with a high-resolution DSLR. in 2011, the publisher National Geographic Germany commissioned us to produce an "ultimate" New Zealand book in pictures and text. We had a long list of topics to work through. This set the bar very high for us and our trip in 2011/12 turned into an extremely strenuous working trip. in 2015, we sold our beloved motorhome and ended our annual trips to New Zealand in order to focus on more destinations in Europe in the future.
