Hannover and its region 2004 - 2008
"Hanover is the most beautiful city in the world!" A somewhat bold title perhaps, as Hanover has suffered from the image of a boring city for decades. But that is deceptive. Whether it's the gardens or parks, the water zones, the quality and diversity of the residential areas, the cultural and leisure facilities. Hanover combines the attractions of a big city with the friendliness of a small town, offering (almost) everything to (almost) everyone. To show this, the photographer spent several years roaming through our very green state capital, looking behind the scenes and into factory halls, illuminating everyday life and portraying its inhabitants. in 2005, the volume (author Udo Iwannek) was published by KaJo-Verlag and, together with the aerial photo volume "Himmel über Hannover" (see aerial photo) and "Region Hannover -Kennen wir uns schon?" (2008, together with HAZ journalist Bernd Haase), it was the start of a 610-page illustrated book trilogy. For many Hanoverians, the extended region was often still unknown territory. The last of the volumes attempts to change this and takes us into monasteries, deep into potash mines, to hidden monuments and other special places in our region. A portrait of our greater Hanover region, a snapshot at least,
