Under Parisian roofs 1998

In no other metropolis are the rooftops as dominant as in Paris, in no other city are they so sung about and revered. Exploring this world was not easy for Kajo and the Parisian author Günter Liehr. To get under the skin of Paris, it took many letters (thankfully with the support of Michael Thoss and the letterhead of the Goethe-Institut) and often long application processes. Time was a factor that should not be neglected. Not only during the long research, after obtaining photo permits, it was often essential to get past door codes, intercoms and janitors in optimal light to quickly reach the roof or across the zinc roofs of the city. The Parisians met the photographer's stammered remnants of school French with great sympathy and helpfulness. Unfortunately, the photographer was denied access to the roof truss of Notre-Dame Cathedral, but he was given unhindered access to the market hall church of St. Eustache with a key weighing a pound. The illustrated book was published by "KaJo bei Stürtz" after the sale of our publishing house in May 1998.
