Everything at hand, (well in this case, at foot) even if you wear a kilt,
Pictures from Scotland 1992
The land "beyond the Tweed" attracted us not only because of its landscapes and clichés: romantic castles, mysterious lochs, bagpipes, whisky and kilts. Jackie was born in Edinburgh, which was her first home. KaJo and the Scottish Jackie spent over six months in a converted former post van, taking them off the beaten track and away from the main roads and tourist magnets. With aluminum containers full of film reels, lots of red markers and notes on various road maps, they zigzagged through the country in search of their way. Always focusing on everyday life and the traditions of the people: to sheep markets, to tweed weavers on Harris, to the storm-torn Hebrides and, of course, to the city rivals Glasgow and Edinburgh. The illustrated book was published in 1993 by KaJo's own publishing house and also in English by a publisher in Scotland.
